Chlorophytum Suffruticosum

in biology, Chlorophytum Suffruticosum (Latin:Chlorophytum suffruticosum Baker ) is a plant of Asparagaceae, Diuranthera, aflowering plant species. This member of the Anthericaceae family was described by John Gilbert Baker in 1878. In 1936, Milne-Redhead mowed it to the Anthericum genera, but it wasn't supported. It is found in Kenya and Tanzania, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The stems will grow to four centimetres in diameter and 60 centimetres high, the flowers are white, and the plant can be reproduced both by seeds and cuttings.

Etymology

The genera name from Greek; chloros; 'yellowish' and Latin; phytom; 'plant'. Well, they do dry out. The species name meaning 'somewhat like a shrub'.

Feature

Rootstock as thick as a man's finger. Leaves a dozen or more in a radical rosette, moderately firm, glabrous, 1 1/2–2 ft. long, 1/2– 3/4 in. broad at the middle, acuminate, closely ribbed. Peduncle leafless, terete, glabrous, 1 ft. long. Racemes simple, dense, 2–3 in. long; pedicels very short, ascending, articulated at the middle, the lower 2–3-nate; bracts lanceolate, acuminate, the lower 1/2 in. long. Perianth 1/2 in. long; segments white, 3-nerved in the brown keel. Stamens nearly as long as the perianth; anthers large, linear; filaments short.
